Mama Goes to the Movies Film Reviews... Treasures old and new. Writer for Hire. Do you want your film (or local play) reviewed? Are you a publication with a need for a freelance theatre/film reviewer. I am a consummate writer, a generous, gentle reviewer. I am a great appreciator of writers, musicians, actors, directors... I am a great appreciator of the effort of, the intent, of art. Write me!! Now, I do these just for me, but that would be something fun and new!! Perhaps we can arrange something. For starters, a ticket for free?! If you like my work, maybe some payment, some honorarium, some stipend. It is something I truly love to do. Note: I have a predilection for gentle, thoughtful independent films, art films, that have some resonance beyond just entertainment. If the violence is essential to a truly important story, I can handle that. But gratuitous violence is not for me. Plus, I confess, I do have a tolerance, I suppose, for what could be called, is there a parallel to literature? Chick films... I am not opposed to feel-good films, films about love. Okay. I confess, I like those. If they are not too commercial, too cheap. The acting, the writing, the production values, must still be good. We could give it a whirl. I have a preference for literary fiction, young adult and childrens' books. (I will not read violence, thriller, horror, fantasy, romance, faeries, or elves, although, among the latter four, I think there is a place for everything.) Are you a site or a publication that needs an occasional book reviewer? I could, on a limited basis, take on a book or two. But this would require some payment, right off, as it takes considerably more time. Write me, if this is a prospect that interests you. As with film, I am an appreciator, of art.
